Waiting for the ferry in the rain. Or Weather and travel mistakes are part of the experience.
I woke up to the sound of pouring rain and thunder. Not a good time to discover more of old town Naples. I really wanted to see The Shrouded Jesus (an image you should look up). The online tickets were sold out but I thought maybe the ticket office might have some. By 8:00 AM the rain had let up, so I donned rain gear and headed out:
The tickets were indeed sold out. So I walked into another church nearby that was dimly lit and empty, except for one other guy.
It was so spooky, I didn’t stay long. Wandered the streets a bit more, as I decided it would be a good idea to head to the port to see where my ferry was.
After a quick coffee I started to the port, just as the skies opened the faucet. When you have the right gear it doesn’t matter. Found the ferry and went home to nap and read the Godfather.
Then I got a message from my place, posted Friday asking me when I was going to arrive tomorrow, which was Saturday or rather today. I had already booked my place in Naples for Saturday night, so I could have a place to rest before catching the ferry at 6:00 PM. But I mistakenly booked the Palermo room for the night I would be on the overnight ferry But it actually worked to my favor, as you will see.
